I so wish I discovered this movie back in 2009 and not, almost, 15 years later! Such a great decade to grow up in, the start of the early 2000's to the end of 2009. There will never be another decade like it... Man, If only there was more promotion from the production company behind Mr Nobody (2009) then perhaps it may of reached more success but I'm also happy it's niche as it stands out to me more compared to the more mainstream garbage littering the landscape out there. The movie hits hard every time and fills me with some longing sadness or envy or perhaps even jealously, which, I'll explain in a little more detail later... First off, my favourite scenes are, without a doubt, the scenes between teenage Nemo and Anna as the connection feels real. The actor's/actress's, Toby Regbo and Juno Temple did an amazing job realising the romance and connection they have, on screen. I actually thought they were dating when watching the scenes they featured in, the first time I watched but was disappointed that it wasn't as real as I thought! I don't even think they are even friends in reality since in the few interviews I've seen them in, they never mention this film or each other which is a little sad but, that's life I suppose. You wouldn't believe Toby was still a teenager in this movie and Juno at the start of her twenties since they do look much younger. It hits harder when the Dad and Mom fall out and split up and thus, force Nemo and Anna to end their relationship, man that would hit hard, going through everything together only for one day out of the blue, for it all to end. I did enjoy Leto and Kruger's performances as the older versions of Nemo and Anna, Leto especially. I think, this might be the finest performance of his career to date. He was so expressive and real in literally every scene but the younger actor's were more suited to the role and relationship, portrayed in film. I only wish there were more scenes with Toby and Juno since there were very few of them in the film since the film constantly time jumps which some people think is too convoluted but that's literally, the entire point of the film. Perhaps more were left on the cutting room floor for various reasons? More deleted scenes would be great. It's doubtful the film will get another release down the road but, I hope this movie in the near future gets some sort of 4K release. Granted, the film was finished at 2K but it could be upscaled and re-released at 4K like most other films in similar situations but due to it's niche and the costs possibly involved, I can't see it happening any time soon. I wish there was more films like this in today's cinema but sadly, it's much harder to find great movies like this still being made. 2009 was another world, literally and figuratively and I would happily go back to that, much, simpler time, almost 15 years ago, compared to today. Back to what I was saying about the jealously or envy or perhaps it's just a longing sadness which I mostly realised after watching this movie for the first time, their on screen relationship is something I (and many others, going by the comments) sadly, didn't get to experience. I was never in a position like this, perhaps If I'd gone somewhere else, I would of met someone instead of where I ended up, perhaps If I'd gone left or left the house on a certain day, I would of met someone back then, all these choices and no answers since no one can see the future. No one really bothered with me when I growing up, I didn't have proper relationships or friends and I think in part, due to that, it screwed me up a bit, years down the road. Man, it's depressing looking back and thinking, what if? I now have a rather nihilistic view of everything and an existential crisis and dread has set in since watching the movie which is bang on, in regards to action or inaction. Everything matters or nothing does. Really puts your own life into perspective, what you did and did not, achieve. The choices that have got you to the road you are currently stationed at etc, the crossroads of your life in essence. Do I make this choice? Do I not? Do I do nothing and forgo choice in respect to inaction? All of this makes you, afraid and like Nemo, unsure about what to do next. ''Life's all about choices. Every path is the right choice. Everything could of been anything else and it would of had, just as much meaning'' ''You have to make the right choice. As long as you don't choose, everything remains possible'' Both of those quotes are my favourites in the movie. The Director and writer, Jaco Van Dormael and composer, Pierre Van Dormael, both did an amazing job ''Le temps immobile'' is my favourite track out of the whole movie's score. The score is just as hard to find as the promotion was for the movie for some reason. It has a sort of innocent and longing sadness to it. You will shed many a tear listening to that. It's a shame the composer didn't get to work on more after this film due to his tragic passing but perhaps he left, leaving behind the best gift of all, the soundtrack. Like the Director said, ''it's not about how many go and see Mr Nobody, it's about how long it will stay in peoples mind, long after it ends'' Powerful and thought provoking stuff. 'Le temps Immobile', 'Mind the Gap'' from Green Street: Hooligans, the '2005 o2 Friends infomercial and music', the, ''Bubble Advert' from o2's 2013 infomercial and the music 'Leftfield - Release the Pressure' and Owl city's, 'Fireflies' and 'Alligator Sky' is some of my go to material when I'm feeling dead inside and longing of the early 2000's Y2K decade. Anyone else wanting to share, don't be afraid to respond.

Watched this movie after hearing Jack Dylan Grazer (actor for young Nic) talk about it and I came out with a changed perspective on addiction. Huge kudos to the directors, writers and actors that brought such a tragically beautiful movie to life ❤

my best friend is going to be a senior next year and this is going to be our duo song..

Basically a song about a guy who is never going to tell her how he feels, and the bittersweet realization he can continue to hold onto that love as long as he never puts it to the test. So as sometimes happens this is IMHO actually a much better interpretation than than the original with its power pop, happy feel. Sting wrote it long before it got made by the Police and turned into happy power pop. Gotta wonder if someone could write a book on popular songs that didn’t manage to live up to the tone of their lyrics the first time around.

This film does a wonderful job portraying just how heartbreaking addiction is. The love of family is unbreakable but sadly enough, sometimes it’s the addiction that feels unbreakable. Hopefully one day science can find a way to fully stop this disease as it may not seem like one from the outside, but from inside it probably is the worst mental disease that quickly turns physical.
